Vernon Malone College and Career Academy (VMCCA) offers students in grades 9-13 a rigorous program that focuses on college and career readiness in one of six college program areas of study.

Our school offers the following unique academic programs to our students, allowing each learner to explore their interests and shape a personalized path to success.

Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology

Students in 11th and 12th grades take both high school and college courses as part of their daily schedule. College courses are tuition-free and course credits count on their high school and college transcripts.
 

Cosmetology

Students have access to college courses in one of five AAS pathways:  Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology, Cosmetology, Facility Maintenance Technology, Nurse Aide, Simulation and Gaming Development, or Welding 
 

Facility Maintenance Technology

Wake Tech is North Carolina’s largest community college, offering more than 250 associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates that prepare students for university transfer or immediate employment. Their AAS pathway courses are offered directly on VMCCA’s campus.

Nurse Aide

Students graduate from Vernon Malone with a high school diploma, college certificate, internship experience (optional), earned credentials/certificates (may vary by program) and college and career ready skills.
 

Simulation and Game Development

Students have the option to earn additional college credits through Grade 13 and/or 5th period.  There credits are general education credits which transfer to any UNC System school.
 

Welding

Students have access to college courses in one of five AAS pathways:  Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology, Cosmetology, Facility Maintenance Technology, Nurse Aide, Simulation and Gaming Development, or Welding.
